Captain Bill Lee
Captain Bill Lee is Coast Guard licensed and has been a commercial fisherman out of Rockport, MA since 1974. He designed and built his fishing vessel, Ocean Reporter, as well as a complete underwater video system. Captain Lee has been involved in fisheries research since 1986. Some of his recent projects include a Fish Grate Study and a Baited Underwater Video study, both for the Northeast Consortium. He has produced and sold over 1,000 underwater videos, the most recent are Trawls, Nets & Doors and Scallop Dredges. Currently he is working on Fish & Lobster Behavior In the Gulf of Maine.
Dr. Allan Michael
Formerly Resident Ecologist at the Marine Biological Laboratory in Woods
Hole and with previous academic appointments at Yale University and the
University of Massachusetts, Dr. Michael now owns a small consulting
business in Gloucester. He has been involved in the design, execution and
analysis of some very large monitoring programs such as the New York Bight
MESA project, Georges Bank Monitoring Program and the Puget Sound
Monitoring Program. Currently involved in an NMFS study to determine the
effects of trawl gear on the sea floor in Cape Cod Bay and a Northeast
Consortium project developing a net to catch flounder without catching
cod.
